What Do the True Believers Think of These Stories?

For the past few weeks I have been so busy I have barely been able to sit down. This is all self imposed, of course, but I have been far from my once a day habit of substack posts. I’ve been offline a lot. I started by working on the tiny house project, but then I couldn’t find some power tools I needed for the project. That turned into renovating the garage in order to find the power tools while incidentally finding tons of things to sell in a garage sale.

SuperSally’s post regarding the Bangkok Post, Thailand’s main English language newspaper, which conceded vaccine harms, drew my attention.

As SuperSally writes:

“Thailand’s cumulative pandemic years excess mortality is running at 9.85%. Weekly excess mortality is shown below.”

The actual title of the Bangkok Post article indicted their difficulty in writing the piece, which was entitled: Long Covid, Vaccines May Cause Disease and Death. The writer did a fascinating job of putting two things together which are often found at opposite ends of the spectrum: fear of long Covid, which is a catch all which could also be hiding vaccine injuries, and then problems with the jabs themselves. Note the wiggle words:

“Prof Dr Theravat and Mr Panthep stated that there were efforts to conceal data about the people affected and killed by vaccinations, and the official number of people affected by vaccinations was thus unrealistically low.

Consequently, many people were unaware that vaccinations affected them and they could not find proper treatment.

They also said that the mortlity rate of Thais rose from its levels before and during the Covid-19 pandemic…They did not give relevant numbers.

Studies in other countries showed that Covid vaccinations killed some people who suffered damage to their systems including their heart, blood, and respiratory systems, they claimed.”

My guess is that Covid true believers will skim the headline and read no farther down in the article, as that would upset their belief system. Beyond the use of words meant to discredit the claims being made it was all put down to authorities at two Universities in Thailand. It feels like it is dipping its toes into the water, but my biggest question was what the comments on the Bangkok Post article indicate regarding sentiment. It’s a mixed bag, with around 50% willing to see the scam. One troll esque comment regarding how these claims would fuel vaccine hesitancy was thoroughly downvoted. I couldn’t figure out if that comment was from a bot or a real person. It seems if you tell a lie loud enough and for long enough some people might be willing to gloss over all of thewrong assumptions that led to it, but it requires a religious chant that bypasses all critical thinking skills. Since the jabs are effective (they aren’t, with evidence they lower immune response) and safe (they aren’t, with clear increased mortality almost everywhere they’ve been used) then any calls to look into problems with the vaccines will encourage people to avoid them. It’s circular we must burn down the village so we can claim we saved the village thinking. Don’t blame the arsonists!

Perhaps the Thailand Princess will finally be laid to rest. Then again they might use this “antivax” chatter to keep her on ice for even longer in the name of national security or something.

Last night I went online for the fifth or sixth time on Google to search “Covid vaccines Thailand” this time updating to 2024. Prior to this searches of this type usually led me to outdated 2021 articles breathlessly proclaiming that Covid jabs were now available to foreignors or announcing a mass vaccine center. In tandem with that Covid jab uptake has stalled to almost nothing. The boosters are not selling:

The google search now has results telling you that jabs have been dropped as a requirement to come to Thailand. There are also several top results regarding Covid vaccine dangers, including the Bangkok Post article referenced above which are near the top of the search results. I have no idea where you would actually go to get a Covid vaccine in 2024. Even google doesn’t seem so big on them now:

Is the Orwellian rewriting of history happening before our eyes? Of course the jabs are and were dangerous. Everybody knew that. Oceania has always been at war with. EastAsia.

In skimming through information about the Davos event, something occured to me:

I do not have the slightest interest in meeting any of these people, ever. The whole Davos thing sounds quite boring and cold to me. I suppose these folks get to feel pretty at the party or something with these badges. But these arbitrary hierarchies feel a bit childish. I also don’t think the escorts are getting paid enough at $5000 per night.

I suppose if I were given the chance to meet Trump, or Biden, or some movie star or head honcho, I’d probably take up the offer. I’d write about it and chalk it up to some sort of experience. In LA I did sometimes run into celebrities: I was at a posh house party that Steven Spielberg attended and Richard Branson was slated to come to the Venice Beach penthouse but it never panned out. Most people below the level of A listers weren’t even recognized by me. I wouldn’t know who Kim Kardashian was if she walked up to me and said hello. Taylor Swift seems like the type I might enjoy getting drunk with, but when would that opportunity present itself?

I’ll take being with my family over any of them.
