As a fun trip down memory lane story, Oh’s favorite US state was actually South Dakota, where he almost shot a horse. In 2015 following on from the special area in Nebraska I got a call from a friend I knew was staying in South Dakota with the father of her child on an Oglala Sioux reservation. So we cut north from Nebraska on some country roads. As we got close that night Oh agitated to buy beer for everybody. I’d usually drank with my friend when I visited her in Los Angeles, so this wasn’t a big deal to me.
It was really hard to find alcohol in the area. Nobody sold it but finally we were pointed in the right direction to a place with a huge LIQUOR sign in bold letters up top. A Native American man, obviously very drunk, approached my husband immediately outside.
“My friend! My friend!” He said, and then began talking to my Thai husband as though he’d known him his whole life. Oh thought he was mistaken for somebody else, but he loved it.
We had to follow my friend from a meeting place as they were in the middle of nowhere. They had a setup of a big house and a few smaller bungalow places for the guys working with the horses. Oh set to drinking with the Native American guys immediately. An older white gentleman who managed the land warned me that I shouldn’t have brought alcohol, as a few of the guys had trouble dealing with it. I apologized for my mistake and he shrugged it off, saying they sometimes found their own ways to get into it.
The next morning right after dawn my family woke up to the sound of gun shots. One of the hands was firing off into some trees. Oh handled this disorienting situation very well.
“Excuse me, sir?” My husband asked. “Can I see your gun? I have many guns. I curious.”
The Sioux man started showing Oh the weapon. Within a minute they were talking about it and my husband was firing into the trees.
“You almost shot a horse!” One guy exclaimed. There had been a horse directly behind one of the trees but the bullet had went into the trunk instead. Although it was a fun time once Oh started bugging me about going back to the LIQUOR store I decided it might be a bit overwhelming to extend my stay. There had been some churchy warning about booze and guns and all….

speaking personally, it depends on the company. i can think of plenty of situations where kraft singles would be acceptable
