Curious, (I am), on a recent visit (family vacation, last October) to Nong Khai, I walked the sidewalks of that town, and the "sand bagged" businesses and residences were "everywhere"! The downtown had experienced a flood from the Mekong, and the high water mark appeared to be 1 meter or so. The flood ocurred 2 years ago? (At least that's what I was told?) Is your residence that close to the Mekong? (A year earlier, our family vacation was to Nakon Phanom, and me and the wife walked the frontage road from one end to the other, the dirt from the Mekong (silt) was still present on the south end of the frontage road!!! I was told that the klaugh (ditch) that had a decent berm, maybe 2 meters high ..... the flood even crested that!!! Mrs. Sukwan, is your property in the flood plane? I recall the music that someone on the Laos side of the Mekong, that they were apparently close to deaf? (Funny that!) The crazy bamboo structures that are erected with fireworks and lights were still being dismantled on the Thai side!
