WWIII

For the last several years, in looking at the overall political landscape, I sometimes feel like I’ve been strapped to a chair with my eyes kept open with duct tape while I’m forced to watch a terrible B grade horror movie. Virtually nothing that has happened in the last 4 years or so, from the Covid restrictions to the so called vaccines to the unfolding agitation for WWII, have I ever supported or endorsed. All have led to widespread misery, death, impoverishment, and destruction. Let’s just say that my countries leaders don’t represent me. Who would possibly want all of this?

The missile attack which killed 5 on a beach in Crimea represents just another escalation point in a World War that no sane person could want. Russia is placing blame squarely on the American side. There were attacks inside Russia too and the missiles keep falling in the Middle East as protests against Netanyahu ramped up in Tel Aviv. It’s too much to follow.

Of course if they did try to reinstitute the draft in America women may be included. I’m not thrilled for the sake of my almost 18 year old daughter. As a side story though Jasmine insisted on attending high school once it reopened following Covid shutdowns so that she could be with her friends. This included during the push to get the kids jabbed, when her differential forced absences in the event someone tested positive for Covid in her class (1 day for jabbed high schoolers, 7 days for unjabbed with a negative Covid test) revealed her to be not Covid vaccinated.

“Some of my friends did ask me why I didn’t get the vaccine.” My daughter told me. “I just told them that my Mom was like this super mega antivaxxer so I couldn’t get it. And they would just shrug and be like, okay, cool.”

I’m not sure if I’m more amused or horrified at my daughter’s answer. All of those hours I’ve spent talking to Jasmine about her terrible vaccine reaction to her hepatitis B shot and detailing my research into every jab on the schedule for children and teenagers and when the pressure was on it came down to her saying “My Mom said no.”

I’m anti war too!

Is there a point where the money runs out? Or can they just keep on lighting the excess of fire with missiles?
