I thought this video was very interesting regarding the Maui fires. I have been to Maui twice and both times I stayed in Lahaina. Both times I also rented a car and drove all of the main roads on the island. Despite my love of warm temperatures I never wanted to live in Hawaii. You could almost always see the ocean and in a lot of places like Haleakala you could clearly tell that you were on a fairly small island. It was too isolating for me.
This morning I spent 45 minutes trying to get a fire going for my morning coffee. It’s been pouring down rain here. It occured to me that I’ve started hundreds of fires over the past few years. My maternal grandfather also put in 40 years as a firefighter for the Cleveland FD. The difference between the conditions in California or Nevada versus areas with more rain and latent humidity are pretty vast. Prayers for those affected by this devastation but it does not remotely look like what a normal fire would do.
Back to my home office. Somebody helped us wire a short term solution out here. Feisty doesn’t mind..
re Net Zero clothing: have noticed cotton socks disappearing as well as natural fiber fabrics… smart clothes facilitate tracking?
Great stuff!
