Reading a Birth Chart

In 2021 an odd person reached out to me: that being the ex wife of a long ago ex boyfriend. I met this person once in real life, at my father’s funeral. She’d heard I was into astrology and was seeking advice about her chart. She’d also read some of my writing and was seeking advice about writing her own memoir.

I asked her first if she really had the same birthday as my ex did, as I had heard. She laughed and messaged back no, but they were only two days apart. She went into some detailed drama regarding her and my ex, of the type that indicated to me that she wasn’t really over him.

Meh whatever. I plugged her details into cafeastrology, then decided, for shits and giggles, to put in this exes details next, which I knew because well, he was my ex. I was amazed on reading the detailed astrology chart of both of them.

To put it simply my ex was always a real Debbie downer. He always seemed to have some oh whoa is me story of misfortune and suffering. Nothing in my reading of his sun sign astrology or numerology explained this. I saw it immediately on his natal chart.

For me I’m usually looking for big picture patterns there. If you are playing 5 card draw in poker and you have a hand with a jack of spades, a four of hearts, a six of clubs, a nine of clubs and a two of spades it’s not going to catch your attention. You’ll likely throw it out if you’re playing for money. If that same five card draw produces four eights, you’re going to notice that. If you have four diamonds or a 7, 8, 9 and 10 of any suit you might pay attention to that also.

I saw a pileup on my ex’s chart of squares and oppositions. This indicates a lot of difficult aspects, bad luck, challenges or misfortune. It was pronounced though less extreme on his ex wife’s chart from being born two days later in the same geographic area. I gave her a detailed astrology report and added in a bit of Thai numerology (2 days apart is like two siblings fighting for attention two years apart) and Chinese zodiac.

I also saw clear signs in her chart of strong psychic ability. It was based on her numerology and other things. She was amazed by this and went into some details about things she had done in this regard.

She thanked me but then the conversation got weird.  I suppose it should have been weird because the astrology was challenging in many ways. Or maybe it was just weird since she the was the supposed ex wife of my ex boyfriend. She told me that her ex husband (she was still defending him) was really devastated by what I had written about him. What had I written about him? A few things, none of which was really damning or secret or controversial. I’d asked at the time and he had told me jovially that I could write whatever I wanted to about him. I had emailed him copies of my writing which were never opened. I asked her what he was bothered by but she gave no solid examples. Then she made a point that she did not want to be included in anything I wrote.

Okay. This was a little head scratching to me, because at absolute best, this lady might have been devoted half a sentence. Like a “my ex introduced me to his new wife” type of thing, somewhere on page 486 of my writing. I would have never considered using her name as it was irrelevant, or details about her life, which I don’t know, but which would likely be distracting even if I did know them. I’m not trying to write a gossip column about my hometown here. I bored of that sheit at least 20 years ago.

It amazes me how much being an “antivaxxer” is exactly like writing a “tell all novel.” Nobody actually needs to read what I wrote in either case. What they know is that it’s dangerous and inflammatory and bad. There’s a lot of guilt by association and a lot of weird gossipy “I was warned about you” type of messages. Warned what?

Then again most of my relatives who were critical of my writing in some way are dead. So, there’s that.

Anywho so I was reading this gentleman’s birth chart, who generously became a founding member. I saw a huge pileup in both his fifth and sixth houses. There’s 12 houses, so seeing 5 in the fifth house and four in the sixth house is a bit like getting three fives and two sixes in five card draw. That’s a full house.

What do the fifth and sixth houses cover?    

“The Fifth House is commonly referred to as the House of Pleasure. Oftentimes, pleasure is the result of a creative act” It’s a Leo house ruling passion, love, spontaneity, entertainment and leisure. “The Sixth House corresponds with health, wellness, and daily routines, including odd jobs.” The houses aren’t fighting each other but they have different roles. The term joie de vivre, which means the joy of life or living, kept on popping into my head in reading it. It would have been tempered by a desire for order and routine which would manifest with time, a sort of “It’s eight AM babe time to get up.” I’d also say more spontaneous patterns would merge with more ordered routines with age.

Numerology wise July 31, 1957 is all odd numbers. This tends to imply a spontaneity and unpredictable nature. Wednesday Buddha however is receiving alms and is considered generous, hardworking and likes to help others.

I usually immediately think in my head if I know anybody in person with a given birthday, as it tends to connect things for me. I have a lot of days in which I don’t know anyone with a certain birthday, and then I have clusters where I know two or three. I know one gentleman growing up who had a July 31 birthday. He is an engineer, very studious and quiet. I never read his birth chart but I never connected him to Leo as his energy was not bombastic enough.

But then I remembered that there was a cross here. Someone asked me if it really matters whether my child is a dragon or a snake. In astrology terms it’s only a movement of a few degrees as it’s just a mental mark (though I’d say being born on the Chinese New Year to firecrackers going off all around is auspiscious). But the numerology changes. A cross occurs if a person’s date of birth would be different in another time zone in which they have some substantial connection with. Me and my husband are both March 18/March 19 crosses on each other, which is probably why I take such an interest in the subject matter. It can also explain aspects of why someone relocated. In this case his late night July 31 birth time would have been an August 1 birthday where he lives in Thailand. That indicates a move to a leadership position that can be manifest in the Land of Smiles.  

It doesn’t come up in many cases. My ex boyfriend’s ex wife, for instance, being born and raised and living around Ohio her whole life, is just on Eastern Standard Time in the USA. But this gentleman is an expat living in Thailand, where his normalized Buddhist calendar birthday would have been 01/08/2500.

August 1 Leo is the single biggest birthday cluster that I’ve come across. I know five different people, four of whom have played substantial roles in my life, that have this birthday. It hasn’t made a difference on their Covidcon opinions in a clear direction. One friend, somebody I knew growing up in grade school, unfriended me on Facebook maybe two years ago. She is adamantly pro jab, pro Biden, pro lockdowns, pro masks, pro narrative everything. I assume she is working on her second or third booster if she is still alive.

Another August 1 birthday, a former client of my lawyer uncle who became friends of the family, is named Matthew Raddatz. He long ago told me that if I ever mentioned him in my writing that I should use his first and last name. He lives in Arkansas and we’ve visited several times. He is outspokenly critical of jabs, masks, closures, restrictions, you name it. He has a great sense of humor punctured by a pessimism and lack of trust. All four August 1 Leos are divorced and seem to have checkered love lives. My friend with the July 31 birthday married his high school sweetheart and they are still together 25 years later.

So I suppose what I see on this chart is a strong desire for companionship and respect. A Libra moon is orderly but also can be critical. A Taurus ascendant indicates a stubborn streak. Leo is a natural leader, but July 31 is not a strong position for this aspect, while August 1 is. This is a workaholic chart of somebody who both works and plays hard.
