As anyone opening this shortly after it is posted might notice, I’ve had a time zone change. I’ve arrived safely in the USA though I did have a few hiccups, getting stopped by both exit control on leaving Thailand AND getting put through secondary inspection on entering America (that’s a personal first for me). In searching my bags they took a Happy New Year 2025 large sized confetti party popper I’d meant to give my younger daughter as this was labelled as a firework (despite being in my checked bag) in Thailand. On the US side they confiscated a ham and cheese sandwich I had been given on the flight which I was saving in case I got hungry later.
Both sides were friendly about the secondary inspection of me. “You sing the song.” The older Thai gentleman pointed out to me at exit control in Thailand. Yes, I do sing the song sometimes when I’m in the mood for it. “You don’t come back this year?” I nodded affirmatively and explained about seeing my daughters at Christmas. I’m not sure I could get back to Thailand in 2024 even if I had wanted to.
The Asian man in Seattle USA secondary was polite and apologetic about the long wait with it being Christmas Eve and all. I was more nervous because I was the only one in there who seemed to be an actual American citizen who had been pulled aside: the rest were in many cases Chinese nationals. I bluntly detailed my story of the five year wait on my husband’s visa to come to the USA, explained that we had another indefinite delay and told him that I detailed all of my adventures on substack where I was critical of US immigration policy among other things. I figured I’d get right ahead of any “do you know why we stopped you?” type of questions.
“I think your husband will get it soon.” The immigration officer offered up. I even managed to make my connecting flight to Las Vegas, minus one sandwich from the flight.
Speaking of US immigration policy, it seems Elon Musk got himself into some hot water over his comments regarding those gifted, exceptionally talented people from India being brought over on H1B visas.
A few years ago while checking the US Embassy website for timelines in my husband’s visa case, I noticed an estimated wait to interview on H1B visas as being approximately two weeks (this compares to several months to several years on family preference visas). The H1B visa applicant also had generous provisions for bringing his Indian wife and children with him to the USA. Heaven forbid that these tech workers should be seperated from their family members or anything because of a silly visa process while they work in the USA. My husband being from Thailand is not eligible for an H1B visa.
Of course the big corporations lobby Congress to tilt laws in their favor, while families don’t. At this point I’d assume various spooks and officers have made far more money checking my case than I’ve been able to earn in several years.
I get the feeling that Elon Musk would get these headlines changed if it had actually been one of his self driving cars that caused the problem.
The TSA is conspicuously absent from this list. And where are these people going to work now that foreigners are taking all of the jobs at half price?
I still have trouble believing that this was about my sandwich from the airplane.
One can still hope right?
I’ve had a little bit of a cold and a stuffy nose since I arrived in Las Vegas which follows on from a month long dry cough while I was in Thailand. Both my daughters are a bit sick too. I’ve been starting to investigate frequency again. Could all of this be related to sound waves or is it other wireless frequencies that are causing the problem here?
This is a leopard, not a puma…
I’m still planning more in my what happened to the coral reef series and perhaps I will try to do a 2024 year in review in the next few days. Did you forget about Maui and the fires in Lahaina? Nothing about those looked natural, per say. Apparently they still aren’t letting people back in to the area:
My older daughter told me that I am extremely lucky that I didn’t get fined for my illegal sandwich which I had forgotten that I had. What a money scam this $200 per apple thing looks like.
It does make me wonder about the people enforcing such blatantly money grubbing policies. “How did you end up working here?’ Somebody asks. “Well all of the jobs in my field were given to foreigners but in taking the online skills assessment test they determined that I would blindly follow even nonsensical orders that enrich the already rich and powerful while making everybody else’s life miserable.” That seems to be the gist of it.
I am feeling incredibly grateful to be here and have been cooking, cleaning and talking to my girls about everything. The house has been a chaotic mess but is slowly getting cleaned up. The holidays are all about family and I’ve been enjoying the offline time.
We snapped this picture of me and my husband at a 7 Eleven Christmas and New Year’s display right before I left Thailand. I’ll get some pictures with the girls and my mother soon enough. Will 2025 be a better year?
Perhaps it’s about waking up one immigration officer at a time…
Christmas Blessings to you and your family Amy! 2025 will be a mixed bag good and bad, pretty much the same mixed bag that happens every year. Your hubby will get to the US with you!
Could all of this be related to sound waves or .......
many reports of people having mysterious ill crapola in areas of heavy chem-trails.
