In the last few days I’ve been feeling artistically inspired. I took advantage of the rainy nothing else to do weather and painted up another meme. The new Polio vaccine advertising campaign has dropped in Gaza…
Although I took close to a 30 year hiatus I drew up a series of cartoons for our high school’s newspaper (black and white only due to printing costs). What amazes me in looking back at this one, which I drew when I was 17 around the time of the 1996 Presidential election, is that I consider it as relevant 28 years later as it was when I drew it:
Despite being too young to vote in that election I was part of a political group for the Green Party at the time. So I supported Ralph Nader, though in later years he made comments that I found disturbingly pro-vaccine. Would I have been throwing away my vote towards a third party if I had cast a ballot for him?
Comments on my substack indicate a heated debate among those who do not think it is possible to vote our way out of this mess and those who think we must do our part to save Democracy by voting (usually for Trump). I am respectful of all perspectives and I would urge you to be likewise. When I was growing up somebody could say that they were voting for Bob Dole, or Bill Clinton, or a third party, or not voting at all and they were still friends in real life. Somehow they harnessed the power of the Internet to get one side of the people always fighting with the other side of the people for holding everybody back, while freedom and prosperity get progressively worse no matter who is voted in. That said objectively things were better under Trump for most Americans, if you take out lockdons until jabs and Operation Warp Speed, that is. The following memes and the like were not made by me, incidentally.
But why does nobody look up instead of fighting each other? I watched more debate clips. One thing that struck me was how much it looked like two actors on the stage who were given preassigned roles in the debate performance. Trump did look grumpy and there were wide openings where he could have gone in regarding vaccine mandates, the wars and inflation and he really didn’t. It’s like they’re stage managing the wholesale theft and dissolution as two puppets to the larger crimes. Kamala Harris looked cute and of course the fact check regarding pets not getting eaten in Springfield seemed absurd and the Simpsons esque. The long running joke in Thailand is that the Koreans eat the cats and the Laotians eat the dogs. If the Haitians really are cannibals I suppose being a furry who identifies as a cat or a dog or a bird won’t help you too much. Tastes like chicken!
Trust in God…or is it karma? This is yet another thing I won’t play semantics on. Belief is a deeply personal thing we must all come to terms with on our own.
Whther you’re seeing this on Friday night or Saturday morning, or later, I wish you all a good weekend. In Peace!
Regarding your phrase: "....and those who think we must do our part to save Democracy...."
Really? Because it is not at all about saving Democracy; it is about RESTORING THE REPUBLIC. When are people going to understand that? Amy - you know better.
Regarding the vax in Gaza why not just save time and air drop the syringes and leaflets saying safe and effective on them (🤣 i can envision the cartoon)
