This is drone footage from the Lahaina fires shot one day after it happened. You can see the extent of the horrific damage. So the hotels were evacuated? At what time? What if a guest wasn’t in the room or didn’t want to leave for whatever reason? Did that include AirBNB and smaller guest houses? Were all of the schools in the area shut down that day, or were any children dropped off and then sent home? Wouldn’t the parents or emergency contacts be notified if that was the case, especially for 5-11 year olds at the elementary school? Over 2000 children from Lahaina area have still not signed up for any alternative learning platform. A person who works with the homeless community in West Maui said there were 32 out of 231 still missing.
Prayers for all of those affected…and God Help us all.
