Is it Stupid or Evil?

Hat tip to Jerome V for these excellent articles by Bruce Charlton. I’ve been pondering lately the destructive impulse that seems at play in the last several months. It can’t be just about power, money, or self serving interests because it seems like they’re willing to take everyone down with them in a way which is no longer logical from a self preservation standpoint. So why do the middle managers and politicians play along? This excellent and short article I’m almost quoting in its entirety:

“It is very striking that the leaders of Western nations and major institutions and corporations are - in the first place - just not actual leaders: they are not capable of leadership, but are instead just over-promoted middle managers, or else selfish psychopaths. 

That has been the situation for several decades: real leaders are not sought, and indeed actively excluded from leadership. 

Perhaps more recently (and most obviously in the USA) the current "leaders" of nations and institutions are becoming cognitively incapable: they cannot reason, and therefore cannot make even simple inferences, or learn simple lessons from experience. 

One top of a generation of appointing followers (or front-men, empty suits) as pseudo-leaders; this more recent deliberate and strategic selection of mentally deficient leaders is conclusive evidence (for those who still need it) that the official leaders are Not Leading At All; but are following orders. 

Yet following orders is not enough anymore; the newer generation of pseudo-leaders must in addition Not be able to understand the relationship between decisions and consequences; they must Fail to learn from observing repeated cause and effect associations. 

The reason is that - at the highest most-strategic level of the real world-leadership - i.e. the senior demonic - the plan has changed from the imposition of a bureaucratic-totalitarian global System (which reached its peak in the worldwide coup of early 2020); to the current increasingly "Sorathic" agenda of destruction: destruction of people, animals, plants and the planet (justified via the inversion of all true-values). 

This spiteful agenda has been smashing the world economy, finance and trade; it has started and is escalating WWIII; turned environmentalism against itself; exploded the sexual revolution; imposed the birdemic-peck; and is incrementally ratcheting-through the societally fissile effects of the current diversity-woke stuff. 

In other words; the senior real-leaders are making their servants do the opposite of what they were supposed (even just a few years ago) to be aiming-at. 

Given such dissonance; even the most servile managerial drone would, eventually, be able to work-out that he was being used to destroy himself and everything he valued...

This is a danger to the fulfilment of the top-level evil strategy for earth. 

A servile managerial drone might work-things-out... Unless, that is, he was so deeply defective in reasoning capacity that he was incapable of noticing that almost everything he did, actually had the inverse outcome from its supposed intention. 

And that is exactly what we now have: a Western leadership class who don't even notice that what happens as a result of their policies is the opposite of what these policies are supposed to achieve.”

In short the front leaders are not just picked for being evil or stupid: they must intentionally be both evil AND stupid.

In a nutshell: it is necessary that current leaders operate in a perpetual present-moment which they are constitutionally incapable of comprehending, because they cannot relate it either to the past or to the future. 

To be safe; it is now necessary that the Establishment-allocated official-leaders are unable to notice even the grossest and most immediate destructive consequences.

Like the deaths from Covid jabs which are still being pushed, you mean?

Bruce Charlton explain Sorathic evil in this post:

“I have recently written about Sorathic evil - the purest, most negative and destructive form of evil; as being the direction in which the world is going, here-and-now. 

But, Sorathic evil may be hard to understand. We are used to explaining evil actions in terms of fulfilling personal desires - whether the 'Luciferic' desires of immediate gratification by lust or cruelty, or the longer-term 'Ahrimanic' desires of power and control… 

Well, it does happen. Perhaps if we introspect honestly, we can recognise the Sorathic within ourselves, as at least a momentary impulse?

An example are those resentment-fuelled spite-fantasies directed against people that we hate, or even who merely annoy us in some way that gets under our skin. For instance; day-dreaming the wish that somebody we have come to regard as smug, entitled, arrogant, privileged - will suffer massive public humiliation, fatal illness, or agonizing violence. Or somebody who 'thinks they are beautiful' and you 'wish' they would suffer a disfiguring accident that would make them hideous. Or when the idea flashes into mind that maybe I should kill myself and leave an accusatory suicide note; so that he/she/they will suffer lifelong agonies of guilt ("That will show them!").”

Even children show a form of these fantasies sometimes, as is often displayed in the old story of the child angry at Mom who is going to hold his breath until he turns blue and when he dies Mommy will be so sorry! It might be a bit cute in a four year old but a teenager who has been brutally bullied at school or who has been jilted by a romantic interest, who then has the means through a gun to turn this fantasy into irreversible damage to either themselves or others or sometimes both, becomes a much greater problem.

Now just imagine a world where we’ve given near absolute power to people harboring these delusions. Bill Gates, for example, made headlines a few years ago for wanting to block the sun with chalk dust in order to combat climate change. You’d need to ask several obvious questions about this, like whether the Earth is really heating up, whether that is a bad thing if it is true, and whether the benefits of potentially cooling down the planet in this manner outweigh the potential risks of causing widespread crop failures, famine and possibly even ending life on Earth as we know it. The record from massive volcanic eruptions which caused widespread cooling due to ash in the air indicate that the idea is bordering on batshit crazy destructive. Now I’m not a scientist exactly but I seem to recall a time only a few years ago when PLANTING TREES, oxygen producing, CO2 absorbing trees, was considered a good way to combat so called Climate Change. And it isn’t like they’re being harvested for agribusiness or something: at great cost with no offsetting benefit and dubious risks, they plan to bury the trees in the ground supposedly to create carbon sinks. Much like the butt masks to prevent cow farts idea this one hopefully is less harmful than it is stupid, unless you live in California and landslide risks now get added to your home insurance rate premium increases. My point remains that much as we saw with harmful and counterproductive Covid jabs there seems to be no point rather than destruction for the sake of it. Returning to Bruce Charlston:

“Indeed, someone in the grip of Sorathic evil might plot and scheme, expend time, money and resources - and maybe even take risks to his own health and safety - in order to inflict harm on others. 

Cutting off your nose to spite your face is the proverbial expression of Sorathic evil - although this makes a paradoxical quip out of what is truly the worst kind of evil; and such mockery misses that this 'nose-cutting' is exactly the kind of thing that people will do, when in the grip of Sorath. 

Saruman, in the Lord of the Rings, begins the story as in the grip of typically Ahrimanic evil. Saruman is a very 'modern' figure in the world of Middle Earth; an industrialist with a mind of 'metal and wheels', who even talks in slippery, euphemistic, manipulative management-speak. He works by surveillance (the palantir) and seeks control; even going to the trouble of creating the race of Uruk-Hai; a more obedient and loyal kind of orc-Man, who will stick to orders.  

But evil is a downward path - unless there is repentance: and that path has a slippery slope. 

Ahrimanic evil (while it lasts) retains some Good - insofar as order is better than chaos - and requires virtues such as prudence, hard work, loyalty, obedience...

When Saruman is defeated, he has a chance for repentance; but rejects it. Stripped of power, he refuses to recognise any wrongdoing.”

To quote Thomas Sowell:

It is hard to imagine a more stupid or more dangerous way of making decisions than by putting those decisions in the hands of people who pay no price for being wrong.

“ The end-stage of Sorathic evil is despair, and the only perceived 'solution' is suicide…

 Looking at Saruman's descent into Sorathic evil, it is striking how very small, how petty the wizard has become compared with the proud, powerful, 'wise' administrator of the grandiose, world-dominating schemes of his Ahrimanic phase - just a few months earlier. 

And indeed, Sorathic evil can only tend towards being small and petty, because it becomes less-and-less capable of the deferred gratification needed for making and sticking-with complex, long-term plans and manipulations. 

From this we can see that evil cannot go straight to the Sorathic extremity - without rendering itself ineffectual.  Lucifer and Ahriman are needed in the earlier stages to break-open the Good and allow the Sorath in*. 

Thus Luciferic and Ahrimanic evils alternate until they have created a situation of vulnerability where Sorathic destruction can take-over.”
