As I’ve mentioned a few times I have been using the assistance of ChatGPT to help me finish writing a book entitled Healing Thailand Harvests. It is mostly based on a series of Substack posts related to fruits and vegetables which grow around the area of our bungalow in Phuket, Thailand. The pictures are all my own and from the area. I just wanted to round it out with a few more recipes and nutritional profiles.
It might seem odd to use generative language openAI to help write a book about such a back to nature subject matter, but in a way that made it perfect. The subject matters of harvesting bananas, making coconut milk, or the health benefits of starfruit are uncontroversial and I shouldn’t need to do any type of hacking with my prompts. I also know enough about most of this to recognize a fake story immediately.
Yes, AI can lie to you and sound professional while doing so. Brian Shilhavy reported on the first ever defamation suit over an AI “hallucination.” As described:
AI chat programs have become such a huge part of the online culture so quickly, that many people are still fooled by its infancy and limitations, even though the owners of these AI programs have been very clear to warn the public that the text they produce CANNOT be trusted since they often produce false information or even just make stuff up, if the data that is needed to produce a correct response is not available.
They refer to this false information as AI “hallucination.”
There’s also the risk that AI is used to stifle free speech on the Internet even further. The Learned Language Models could be used all to readily to narrow the discourse substantially. To me this makes it all the better to know what these systems as they are adapting are really capable of.
I am neither afraid of AI and avoiding it, nor am I of the belief that it will save the world. I want to learn about it by using it as a research tool. This article by Erin Reese closely summarizes my position:
The Decision to Stay Human
I’ve decided neither to fear nor vilify AI.
I’ve also decided not to embrace it mindlessly.
I’m opting for the the third door. Door #3.
Door #3 is to Stay Human. I’m going to keep the focus on my Self.
I embrace all things SOUL-FULL, including but not limited to body-mind-spirit wellness, spontaneous joy, music (especially live and played by actual humans, including myself); dressing up, and singing; all things that are resonant for my Being.
I am going to grow my simple herbs, read books in print so I can feel and turn pages, write in cursive with a pen on paper. I’m going to walk in the woods, write letters and cards sent by post. I’m going to massage my body with oils, pet the cat, curl up with my husband for a nap and kisses. I’m going to hang the laundry on the line in the wind and mend the hem on my secondhand dress. I’m going to pray and meditate, enjoy cocktails with umbrellas and mocktails with limes. I’m going to breathe, dance, and stretch.
And feed the hummingbirds.
The highest good is like water.
Water gives life to the ten thousand things and does not strive.
It flows in places people reject and so is like the Tao.Tao Te Ching, Verse 8
To that end one healing space that has been getting quite a bit of research lately involves how to detox from the spike protein of Covid-19. Whether from the effects of Covid or long Covid, the effects of the vaccine continually producing it, or perhaps from the effects of shedding.
Dr. Paul Marik describes the spike protein:
“Spike causes profound inflammation.”
• “It activates clotting.”
• “It causes autoantibodies.”
• “It causes damage to the endothelium of blood vessels.”
• “And then it has some really bad effects on genes and many of the genes involved in cancer suppression. So we now know that spike protein, and although people want to ignore and deny it, actually activates many genetic pathways which lead to cancer. And it’s a form of cancer called ‘turbo cancers.’”
“And this is related to the spike protein,” he concluded. “Cyanide kills you quickly; spike protein kills you slowly. And so, it’s as toxic as cyanide. But this is a slow, progressive organ dysfunction leading to death.”
His recommendation is an intermittent fasting regimen comprised of say only an 8 hour window of eating in a given day. I have taken on some of these programs before with good results, but it might not be for everyone. Mostly I think it is a matter of returning to whole foods and moving away from mindless eating and snacking.
I was looking for a recipe to round out my book though. This is what came to mind:
