I seldom post back to back on the same day, but my thoughts and prayers are with those affected by the 7.7 magnitude earthquake that struck Myanmar and Thailand earlier this afternoon.
Amy, you are smoking today! (Except not cigs, sorry.) So relate to the one watered down cup of coffee. Hard to go without these things. Prayers for those suffering from the earthquake.
I've been smoking the hand rolled tobacco since returning to Phuket in late February. All of this can be a tricky balancing act with addictions. Sometimes it can become more about the habit or the enjoyment derived, especially if you are not seeing or feeling the direct manifest harm from it. Then again sometimes less is more...
Ok. Back for the real reading of Friday Night Funnies, and I wasn't disappointed. The Tupperware one and "never forget turning off your oven" are absolute killers for me!!
I'm at the computer now while my Italian meatballs are baking in the oven. I'm naïve. I made this guy's recipe calling for 1 lb. beef + 1 lb. pork, and he calls for frying 'em up. I'd be here all night. I will now have meatballs into June (via my freezer). Being old and wanting to eat real food and avoid nanotech in processed food, I would have a hard time without a fridge & freezer.
I've mentioned this before...quit coffee thinking I would upgrade my health several years ago. Drank only herbal tea. Loved the change. Had no problems. After a long time (at least six months if not longer), I wondered about my dilly dally ways in the morning. Would returning to cafe au lait help? Coffee grounded me. (No pun intended.) Herbal teas kept me sky high...kind of ethereal. I liked being grounded. No problem-o with coffee. In the summer, I have iced coffee in the mornings. Love it.
Smoked a lot of grass when I retired thinking all the CBD would help with the pains physically destressing. Legal here. Was destroying my lungs but didn't care. Then, I moved, rent much higher, and couldn't afford. Best thing that ever happened to me. My lungs feel so clear. However, "To each his own" is my motto.
Earthquakes are a kick. When I got home after the Loma Prieta, most of my books were still on the book shelves, but some stick matches from those little, hard containers with the strike surface on the side? They were on the floor with the box open. I realized then...the energies were weird. Which is probably why people report such different experiences in catastrophes. Maybe our karma attracts certain energies.
I worked at Craigslist in SF for three years. The site is actually subtly updated several times a day. They just choose to stay with the original look because it works well.
They now have a mobile app for those so inclined. I worked on that. I can assure you it's not spyware, unlike most mobile apps.
I read some time ago that Craigslist never sold out to the big tech guys. I hope they've stayed independent. Most big tech updates are busy work for developers which make the websites more intrusive while being harder to use and/or access. I've gotten locked out of so many things because some device was stolen, damaged, or the SIM card phone number didn't work anymore in Thailand/USA. I've lost all my facebook chat messages stretching back almost two decades, for example, because they now want some type of retarded security PIN on my device (which will of course lock me out of facebook messenger altogether once that device then gets stolen, damaged, or I change locations). Some websites no longer work if you don't download the app on your phone. I could go on and on about these annoyances.
Craigslist stands out to me as a website that works as it should, So well done!
Right, they didn't sell out, though eBay owned some of Craigslist for a while, until Craig bought it back.
It's not a democracy or a charity there, in spite of the peace sign logo. Craig owns it all and is crazy rich because the site is so profitable, mostly from the job listing fees.
On the other hand, Craigslist provides a valuable service with no strings or games. They're not keeping or selling user data or forcing you to use the app. It's all very honest and upfront.
Thought of you guys straight away, thanks for the update! I have had a few few day stretches off coffee over the last month but the small comforts seem necessary atm
Ahh yes, replacing coffee with dandelion root tea and the like takes the small joy you still had in life away! I am being much more conscious about my caffeine intake, so I am enjoying that one watered down cup more.
All is quiet on the western front this evening regarding the earthquake which struck earlier today. Let's hope it stays that way and that Bangkok and the rest are able to dig out...
Just a quick check-in with you. I just read and saw video of the earthquake damage in Myanmar and Thailand. Very sad for the people there!!
I remember when living in Taiwan that we had earthquakes. One night my sister and I awoke to our bed literally rolling from one side of the room to the other!
Martin Armstrong's predictive computer, Socrates, has been forecasting an extremely active year for volcanos. I wonder if these activities are related? If we'll see more devastating earthquakes this year, too? I like your explanation, too, about the planets' alignment.
Glad you're okay, Amy, and those around you! I'll read your post later.
Caffeine spikes estrogen? Hmmmm. I know alcohol diminishes it. At a time in life (age and circumstances) where self soothing/medicating has become paramount to survival! 😉 my acupuncturist says no dairy, eggs, sugar or meat. Yeah right. I guess I will become a breatharian 😆. Anyway, thanks for the tip on eggs and epsom salts! I had a good giggle.
Can somebody PLS explain why “Trump and Elon are ushering in the same issues you
thought democrats would impose”? What exactly, specifically are they supposedly doing wrong and why are they scaring people? Explain it like I’m 5 because it’s making zero sense to me.
It makes no sense to me either, and I hesitate to call people names, but the opposition is peopled with bald-faced, desperate liars (see "like your doctor keep your doctor" and "put y'all back in chains," Schiff, Raskin, Russia Russia Russia, J6 insurrection, J6 committee, wet market covid, vax safe and effective, Trump is literally Hitler, Hegseth has no experience, etc., etc., etc.).
I was at an Internet cafe in southern Bangkok when it happened. I thought I was sick at first, but after 20 seconds realized it was something else. Everyone at the same time got up and calmly went out to the sidewalk.
It took about half an hour, and then the Thais around me were smiling again. It was fairly relaxed, but there wasn't any nearby building collapse, so people knew they were lucky.

You don't want "recovery" to become an addiction...
Life is a series of addictions 😉

That's why I don't use FB... or messanger b/c I don't want the app! Your analysis is spot on!

SO sorry to hear abt the earthquake.
Wonderful & brilliant.
I saw the earthquake report earlier and immediately thought about you. Thank God. Keep staying safe!
