Re the survey, look at ancient techniques in hot areas; Rammed earth housing, or real Adobe. No metal in walls. Semi underground dwellings. Yes the earth walls are some effort to erect, but they are essentially finished and actually compete well for time to construct. In terms of price, they are cheaper as well, hence their popularity in India and desert peoples. How to make the roof blue without using metal would be a challenge. If traditionally tiled, perhaps the glaze could be that terrible blue.
I agree. We are looking into alternative building methods. Rammed earth works well. If you want a blue roof there are always glazed tile roofs in cobalt blue and lovely jade green. The Spanish used them when they owned a lot of western lands in North America. They last for hundreds of years.
Thanks Kyle. Its funny how all the archeology vids (which i love but) focus on 'when' metal started getting smelted because of course it was implicitly a good thing. I am beginning to see it differently for multiple reasons. Can't wear metal jewelry (for 20 yrs now) and much prefer chopsticks in the last few years. Wood is forgiving. best
for fire/flood/typhoon resistance these days I'd build out of fired clay, cement, and rock, on a foundation as close as I can get to bedrock... no wood, no metal, definitely no plastic.
considering the mess the Establishment keeps trying to make the world, I'd also want a stored air supply on top of my previous desire for a well and on site power generation.
It looks like Silicon Valley is all in for the Smart Cities thing. I'm glad I left that area 15 years ago. Small towns are the way to go, for me at least. It's weird, though, how that list of participating cities is nowhere to be found on their web site now.
Can anyone take a song and illustrate via photos? I would love to do so. I thought, in most cases, YT would levy one strike against you because of copyright infringement. My first video (I don't make many but was on a "spiritual forum" which was encouraging everyone to do something different) was video sequences in time to "Love Theme" from "Romeo and Juliet" played by André Rieu and His Orchestra. YT took a long, long time giving approval. I think they actually (just a suspicion) contacted Rieu's organization. I fully credited them in the video. Since I didn't understand most creators used the description area to do so, I made a "Credit Page" at the end. YT eventually cleared the video for use with no copyright infringement. Right after that episode, I noticed that YT began encouraging creators to include credits within the video with such a page. In any case, since that time, I've used only "free music" or music a creator can use freely if not monetized and the source given credit. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Wrluw6I7fo
Loved, loved, loved "Today I've completed a chore..." and "Keeping my neighbors on their toes." Too, too funny!!!

Those are good options. Traditional terracotta "Spanish style" tiles are a good option for roofing. Important to avoid any metal in the house.

Good advise.
Yes. I'm overwhelmed that the world is batshit crazy but most believe this is normal...

I wonder if any city in CO isn't part of the SMART plan? 🤦🏻♀️
Excellent! We will share the memes of production.
Good ones Amy:)
