Does anyone want to weigh in on the symbolism of Trump NOT putting his hand on the Bible while taking his oath of office?
It’s official: Trump has been sworn in as President again. He is promising a slew of executive orders which may or may not change things. Usually such EOs make things worse for the vast majority trying to get by.
In looking at the charts above most Americans are pessimistic about the future: they think inflation, immigration and war will continue and privacy will become even less. The vast majority do not see a population decrease either. One thing I have always noticed about people’s future predictions is that they tend to reflect the status quo of today. So most think everything will continue on its pretty lousy trajectory regardless of who is President.
Yet nothing stays as it was forever. It seems that things will get worse and worse progressively but then the screaming baby turns 18 years old. The passage of time can change things for better and worse.
Joe Biden pardoned several more of his family members on his last day in office. My question is what did he pardon them for?
Biden pardoned Anthony Fauci too, for everything dating back to 2014. Why was that date chosen?
Here are a few of Trump’s comments on proposed executive orders. He’s apparently going to save TikTok:
I don’t have a TikTok account myself but sometimes I find an interesting video on there that exposes something that I want to learn about. It seems less susceptible to shadow banning of content and I don’t think it should be banned. Is this the reason why they went after it?
Would a new tariff system radically increase the cost of every day items like food? And where is the executive order abolishing income tax upon which the tariff system is going to replace the funds with?
I wonder how this war will end, presuming it ever does…
My guess is that ardent Trump supporters will consistently make excuses for why their guy does something which extends misery for the rest of us, but I sincerely hope that I am wrong with that. I suspect that for most of us, it’s time to get to work on the world we want to be living in.
Sticky rice is an Isaan staple food but where would we get limestone? And is this fireproof?
The Banyan tree in Lahaina, Maui, is pictured here over one year following on from the “wildfires.” It survived
What do you all think?
1. Trump's Exec Orders will at first make things worse, then make things better in the long run.
2. "Innocent people don't need pardons." Ahhh . . . yeah they do - J6ers.
3. "Police arrest arsonist for using gas blowtorch instead of electric blowtorch . . . totally funny!
4. And regarding Trump putting his left hand on the Bible -- notice that Justice Roberts starts leading Trump in the oath of office before Melania gets a chance to really stand next to her husband with the Bibles in her hands, and so the situation doesn't really offer the opportunity to place his hand on the Bible, unless there is an interruption. I think it was an oversite. Once Roberts starts talking, it would have taken a "break" by Melania to make that happen. Melania noticed, but she was not going to be that interruption.

An evil person who swears on a bible will still do evil things. A good person who swears on an imaginary bible will still do good things.
