This is a grab bag post though I am contemplating a lot of deeper thoughts on my recent substack reading. Some long flights and long layovers will hopefully give me the time to do some long form writing of my own. Do you think Christianity is getting hijacked? Elevating Trump’s persecution to some type of second coming Messiah type of event seems transparently clownish. It looks like a uniparty operation for the welfare-warfare state. Can we unite under something real for a change?
At this airport you can’t even buy a fruit cup for less than $15. Who could support that?
I’m sure the other religions are doing a better job of explaining things…
Rates of various illnesses in children in vaccinated and unvaccinated populations
Regarding new age gnostic types suddenly declaring allegiance the Jesus Christ, it does sound a bit suspect. With 39% of American adults believing that we are in end times right now (this was heard on a Christian radio station, so the poll might be skewed) one can both assume that there would be a greater interest in understanding the teachings of the Bible and a lot of insincere types who are looking to capitalize off it, in much the same way that the pushback against the Covid narrative was hijacked and steered in approved directions.
Can man be Gods? I’d presume first off that man must overcome mortality, something they’d love to do but haven’t had much luck with. Assuming man as God also presumes no hierarchy as others would also presumably be Gods and exist on an even playing field with free will. Instead it seems like a childish fantasy that recreates the God of suffering and smite and vengeance every single time.
I believe you can reflect God properly through deeds and works. That’s not what it looks like lately:
John 3:19: And this is the verdict,n that the light came into the world, but people preferred darkness to light, because their works were evil.
I also am hoping to attend an event on the island where my first daughter was born. This will be momentous for me because I have never met any substack writers in person. A meeting of minds indeed!
I’ll be wearing my flip flops! For the longest time in Thailand that was literally the only type of shoe I had.
Always remember that light defeats darkness…
Boarding soon. Wish us luck! And a Happy Birthday to Eamon McKinney too if memory serves me…
Safe travels Amy. Praying you come back with unjabbed Ka.
Regarding "fake" Christians like Russel Brand, I'm aware that not all who claim the name of Christ will be saved, but I try to reserve judgement. It's not because I'm fearful of being judged by the same measure, but because I've been doing this long enough that I no longer think I have all the answers. I was raised as a conservative Christian in a conservative church. I've delved into Biblical doctrine and history, Judaism, Buddhism, New Age thinking, Q and stoicism. I've spent time in the military and prison. I've gotten to know people from all walks of life. The more I've learned, the more I realize how little I know. Naked we came into this world, and naked we will return. The only thing that matters is what we do with what we have in this little dash between the "Born" and "Died" dates on our memorial rock.
