Okay let's say I've been playing on substack notes and the app and all and I have a few questions. Like nothing seems to be working that well. To wit:
1: My notifications on the phone app always tell me there are no new notifications, even when there are many. Actually because of their promoting of Notes I always seem to see 20-30 new notifications from my laptop even though there are always zero on my smartphone substack app.
2: Getting to my notifications at all is really hard recently on a non laptop/desktop computer. If I open an interesting article from email notifications it opens the substack app on my phone. This app only has three choices in the right hand corner for me, which are archive, save, and repost. If I want to do anything like check my own posts I can't get there from there. I’ve literally had to search for myself.
3: Notes is a little bit of a confusing mess for me right now. For example, I searched for Substack BFF Sage Hana in Notes. I found some link saying "I won a spelling bee in second grade." How cute! I came in 2nd in a spelling bee in third grade I was so upset at the time! Now how do I follow Sage Hana or find out about new Notes? I still have no idea.
4: Even Gmail sometimes does not give me notifications, so Gmail plus Substack for me equals zero knowledge of whom of my readers are reacting or commenting on my posts.
5: This mess has been largely avoided in the last several days by charging my laptop at the Buddhist Temple and using that for Substack. But how many others are being affected here by this?
This is a question for you readers and Substack contributors! What are you seeing out there?
I am going to be of no help to you Amy. This 'Notes' thing makes no sense to me.... I made a 'note' and it disappeared into the ether. I have had no feedback from it at all and now I have no idea how to find it to check if there have been any responses..... Do I care? Not much. I am getting more jaded with social media every day..... I am wondering if that is the intention?
Seems Substack has caught the "new and improved" virus.
It all goes to shit and yet we call it "progress."
