I have been through the tunnel between Detroit and Windsor about 100 times; one funny story about that is how my Dad would always buy whiskey and cigarettes for my Canadian uncles and smuggle them to Canada. One trip when I was say 10, I saw him assembling the trunk, which would always take him a good hour, to hide the stuff. But I was only 10 and didn't really get it. So when we were at the border crossing, after the guard asked the question, Sir, do you have anything to declare?, my Dad said No and began to move forward. It was then that I asked loudly, But Daddy, what about the whisky and tobacco? ....I think one of my brothers literally covered my mouth, and I guess the guard did not really hear me, because we were not caught. Fun times, kid honesty knows no bounds....best Amy!

LOL! Ahh I remember the good old days growing up. One time at 2 in the morning the group of us drinking buddies had the brilliant idea to go to Windsor because casinos! We begged the one no drinker to drive us and piled in a station wagon all seven of us. We got through but boy they sure seemed curious! I'm trying to think if I've ever gone over the border at Ambassador Bridge and NOT gone through secondary inspection...I'm drawing a blank there. America always let us back in no problem though

Dad never wanted to take that bridge, its just too high up for even a seasoned ex Canadian....no, we were always tunnel to Canada folks. I remember when the casinos came in, and I remember that I have to classify Windsor Ontario as one of the saddest places I ever saw, like each person was already staring down their own tunnel, individually. But it was always cleaner there, a strange dichotomy, clean and sad. And the Seagrams Distillery right there by the tunnel exit, I remember that too. I am glad you guys in that station wagon had a designated driver, that was one good thing that came from the 1980's at least....! j

That was it — Sage just reminded me #Chinada was trending when you posted this and then I got distracted trying to find it. There is some dynamic tag team game going on between dissident posters getting banned and coming back… Hashtags seem to change (likely necessarily) over time as well.

"It occurred to me then that it had been a very bad idea to drive a car owned by a woman who literally died from a heroin/fentanyl overdose over an international border. It hadn’t occurred to me to think of it in that way before."

This reminds me of your dream with Yours Truly driving you in a car and avoiding a particular on-ramp that may or may have not been open, okay it WAS open, but your pal knew some things about that on ramp!
